If I'm interested in learning the basics home building, what would be the best way to start learning?

I know quite a bit about woodworking, but building a home is different all together. I'd really like to learn how so I can do more modifications to my home, without having to pay someone else, and have the satisfaction of doing it myself, and how I want it. And potentially turn it into a small business with my father while I'm at it.
