For scrapbookers: wouldn't aerosol hairspray work just as well as workable fixative on chalks on paper?

I used hairspray (a real cheap and sticky one) when I used to do chalk art. I thought it held up well. The only problem would be if you spray it too thick in an area it will show a bit.
