Microsoft screwed me over (please read)?

Yeah, it sounds like your credit card company has frozen your card because they think the inept Microsoft customer service rep was a crook trying to use your card without authorization. They're trying to protect you from identity theft. Call your bank/credit card company, explain, and have them remove the hold. Then Microsoft should be able to use the card to start up your account again.
