Using credit card to buy online is safe ... for example....?

If it's a reputable company you are buying from, you won't have any problems. They should send you an email detailing your order and other information. Then they will send one telling you it's been shipped and give you a tracking number. I've ordered lot's of things and have never had a problem with any of the concerns you mentioned.
